Interviewing John Finnemore

As some of you may know, there’s a Cabin Pressure convention called EuroAirDotCon happening this weekend in Milan. I’m not in attendance, but benlocked (on the left in the pic) kindly let me know that she just interviewed John Finnemore while wearing one of my Souvenir Programme shirts.
She also said “John loved your shirt! (As does everyone else at the convention!)" and I am now very chuffed indeed!

Ride a pony in dungarees! Wear a medallion! Own a garage and possibly a car (not yellow, but you can’t have everything)! All of this glamour could be YOURS when you become an air steward in the 1970s, the decade when “living with flair” also meant “living in flares”.
But nobody mention this to Arthur Shappey, please. He’ll be ever so disappointed when he finds out that applications closed long before he was born…

Has anybody else noticed that Benedict Cumberbatch reminding everyone that he did the motion capture is starting to sound like Martin Crieff reminding everyone he’s the captain?

In the unlikely event of actor non-recognition, actor doffs cap and gestures to motion capture dots.

this is the standard amount of gold they put in a dwarf kingdom…

aranelita asked: Hello! First of all (as a Cabin Pressure & Sherlock fan): Your Tumblr is absolutely brilliant!! Second (as an admin of a Cabin Pressure Facebook page): The "otters who look like BC" thing – did you have Cabin Pressure & Ottery St. Mary in mind, when you started this? Ppl. are sometimes wondering on the Facebook page.

Hello and thanks for the compliment! In answer to your question: no, the otters who look like Benedict Cumberbatch were not inspired by Cabin Pressure. Or at least, not primarily.

In fact, the original inspiration for OWLLBC came from seeing this picture, which was when I first realized that otters have an aptitude for sitting or lying with their paws pressed together in a very Sherlocky way. All the subsequent otter/Cumberbatch resemblance jokes sprang from this quirk of nature. However, I was already a Cabin Pressure fan by that point, so the fact that CP already provided a connection between Benedict and otters acted as an encouragement to pursue the joke, even though it wasn’t its origin.

So now you know!

So how does it end, this game? It never ends. We should all have realized that by now…

Stand back for a final burst of festive advertising! For today only, you can get 20% off all posters and prints from Redbubble by entering the code GIVEPOSTERS20 or GIVEPRINTS20 when you check out.

So if you were thinking of buying a Field Guide to the Common Cumberbatch poster or print or a Bitchslap on Baker Street poster or print, either for yourself or someone else, now would be an optimum moment. And there’s even time to get standard delivery to the UK in time for Christmas, if you move with Santa-like swiftness…

Cyber Monday alert! For one day only, you can get 20% off all t-shirts and hoodies from Redbubble by entering the code CYBERRB when you check out.
So, if you were thinking of buying a Field Guide to the Common Cumberbatch t-shirt or indeed any of the other shirts in my Redbubble shop, today would be a particularly good time to get one…

Do you ever wish your chest could be entirely covered in Benedict Cumberbatch? Or perhaps you’d prefer him up against your wall? Well, now your dream can come true, albeit in a non-kinky way.

A Field Guide to the Common Cumberbatch is now on sale as a print or poster from my Redbubble shop! There is also a t-shirt version, which doesn’t have the text on it (for space reasons) but which still looks pretty groovy. I’m sorry there was no space to include every Batch ever, but hopefully a few of your favourites are in there.

As an added bonus, you can also buy Sherlock, Martin Crieff, Frankenstein’s Creature, Khan and Smaug the Dragon in sticker form. Plus, if you’d like a sticker of any of the others I’ve drawn, just let me know and I’ll make it available…

Ladies and gentlemen, this is the airport speaking. It wishes to inform you that Cabin Pressure Christmas cards are now on sale from my Redbubble shop. There are four designs to choose from: Merry Jolly Noël, Martin’s Brolly, Get Dressed with Arthur and Le Bear Polar. Also, if you buy 8 cards, Redbubble gives you a 20% discount!

The MJN crew are also available on a t-shirt or a sticker, either of which would make an ideal present for anyone who doesn’t want a Toblerone or a hat with a lemon taped to it…

More Medieval Cabin Pressure! Sorry…

Medieval Cabin Pressure. Don’t thank me, thank mums-the-nerd!

Here is some news! I seem to have opened a Redbubble shop, and my first t-shirt design, depicting this mini version of the Cabin Pressure crew, is now on sale. Tell your friends, your relatives, the beneficent deity of your choice, or indeed anyone else you can convince to buy you a present!

More designs, featuring Sherlock, Hannibal and other fandoms, will be added in the not-too-distant future. I already have a shortlist of ideas that I’m sloooowly working my way through, but if there’s a bit of my art that you would especially like to wear on your torso, do let me know and I’ll give it some consideration…

Edited to add: The same design is now available as a sticker or a greetings card or postcard!

Anonymous asked: i'm such a fan of your all your fantastic artwork. brava! i think a gif of one of my favorite exchanges in the vaduz episode would be a great addition to your icon collection. here it is: Theresa: Maxi, do we have a medal for Teasing Recognition? Maxi: No.T: Shame. (Flirtatiously to Martin) You really earned it.(Martin laughs nervously.)

Aww, thank you for the compliment. Here’s my attempt at rendering that particular CP conversation in icon form. I hope you approve!

In case anyone hasn’t seen them yet, the rest of my icons for Cabin Pressure series 4 can be found over here.

For some bizarre reason, I found myself pondering the question “What would a Stone Age version of Cabin Pressure be called?” Here’s my answer. I also imagine that Gerti would be an elderly and temperamental pterodactyl….
