A festive heads-up to anyone with access to BBC iPlayer! My favourite heartwarming Christmassy film, The Bishop’s Wife (1947), starring Cary Grant, David Niven and Loretta Young, is available to view for the next week. If you’ve never heard of it before, here’s a review I wrote last year.

NBC have given us a fabulous poster for season 2 of Hannibal, but I thought I’d try to make it a bit more Christmassy. But, um, it didn’t really work out…

'Tis the season to revive my unfestively upsetting crossover of Sherlock and The Snowman. Don’t worry, viewers, he’s coming back soon! Just try not to think about the fact he’ll melt away again within a couple of weeks…

Warn the criminal classes and inform Scotland Yard: Sherlock-themed Christmas cards are now on sale from my Redbubble shop! There are five designs to choose from: Merry Crimescene, Like A Fairy, Watson Wonderland, Not My Deer Fashion and Mycroft’s Brolly. And if you buy eight cards, Redbubble gives you a nifty 20% discount.

A selection of Sherlock t-shirts and stickers are also available and would make ideal gifts. Just remember to make sure your lipstick matches the wrapping paper…

Ladies and gentlemen, this is the airport speaking. It wishes to inform you that Cabin Pressure Christmas cards are now on sale from my Redbubble shop. There are four designs to choose from: Merry Jolly Noël, Martin’s Brolly, Get Dressed with Arthur and Le Bear Polar. Also, if you buy 8 cards, Redbubble gives you a 20% discount!

A little pictorial tribute to my favourite Christmassy film, The Bishop’s Wife (1947), which stars Cary Grant, David Niven and Loretta Young. It may not be as famous as other seasonally themed movies, but it’s just as delightful. If you’ve never heard of it before, here’s a review by me.

When I heard that Benedict Cumberbatch would be narrating the audio book for The Snowman and the Snowdog, it made me wonder. Could there ever be a more surefire seasonal tearjerker than the animated classic The Snowman?
Then I decided: yeah, there probably could. Sorry, folks…

Here’s a little bit of my fandom history. Back in the late 1990s, I was a big fan of The X-Files (wasn’t everyone in those days?), and I made these Mulder and Scully toys to go on top of the Christmas tree. My interest in the show faded long ago, but I’ve kept them for their sentimental value! Retrospectively, I do wonder why I didn’t give Scully shorter hair, but such are the regrets of fandoms past…

Joan Collins versus a murderous Santa in Tales from the Crypt (1972).
Goodness me, it’s December already. Maybe it’s time for me to stop hiding in terror from all things Christmassy…
